How SMP was born

The moment I decided to retire from photography.

Last summer I started thinking to myself, I cannot do weekend work forever. I am going to miss all of Miller’s (11yr old son) golf tournaments, I will continue to miss my husband as he travels during the week. I started thinking about what my next few years looked like for Jennings King Photography. After 13 years of weddings and 20 years of family photography, I realized it didn’t quite excite me the way it used to. I knew I needed a change; I knew I wanted to focus on something that could still help others, bring joy to people and provide a service that I excel in, too.

In this thought, I said, “Self? What am I naturally good at?” Well, I tell you, a lot of little things from my previous 24 years of being a working woman! My first job out of college was a project manager/saleswoman at a commercial printing company. I learned systems for mass production and manufacturing schedules and how to work with clients and employees.

In my second job I was a pharmaceutical sales rep for a small company. I learned how to manage my time, my sales, my goals, and how to cold call and make sales pitches to doctors and nurses. I was basically running my own company then inside a larger one. Then Miller was born and I knew I couldn’t travel anymore, so I started my photography job.  Self-taught, I learned the skills and technology of what it takes to be a successful photographer, but most of all learning how to work with people and expectations.

So here we are…I combined all my skills into one job! I realized organizing, styling offices and helping put systems in place for professionals, remote workers, entrepreneurs, business owners and families is exactly what I want to do. It does help that my favorite store in the world is Staples & The Container Store!

BAM! Space Maker Professional was BORN, baby! With the help of some other professionals, we got to work quickly and I immediately knew this was it. I KNEW I was going to fall in love all over again with the idea of getting up to work every morning. THIS was my new passion, this is what I am meant to do in this stage of my life! I am so damn excited about it because I want to help YOU and bring calm and organization to an otherwise crazy LIFE!

And that feeling is exactly what I want others to feel too! I want my current and future clients to know how rewarding and freeing it is to work and thrive in a space that serves a purpose and is organized the way it should be.
